The concept

Based around images captured across Europe, the subject matter focuses on the minutiae of desolation. When removed from their original urban surroundings and transplanted into a new situation, each image becomes charged with a new connotation.

This work is not aiming solely to reinforce the acceptance or ignorance of the reality we find ourselves surrounded by, but is also an attempt to re-evaluate and re-humanise the devastation of dereliction and reawaken the inherent aesthetic therein.

The appreciation of the detail also holds a metaphorical key towards understanding the totality of universal information stored in each of its smallest possible parts. Ultimately by increasing our level of awareness we influence our experience of the world and change the way we perceive reality.
